Biography
Born in 1989, lives and works in Moscow.
Alexander is a second generation artist, the works of his father, Honored sculptor of Russia Igor Kozlov, decorate many cities in Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Holland, as well as museums around the world.
From an early age, the artist visited the workshops of his parents’ friends, the best artists of that generation, became acquainted with the principles of constructing works of art using examples fundamental to modern times, absorbed knowledge and developed an artistic language.
After graduating from the design department of the Textile University, Alexander delved into the world of cinema, theater and show decorations for almost ten years, became the author of architectural and design projects for the Tretyakov Gallery, the 2x2 TV channel, and became an art consultant for many videos for world brands, which, of course, influenced established style.
Alexander Kozlov's works are in private collections in Germany, the UAE, Israel, Russia and the USA.
Artist statement
Alexander Kozlov works in a mixed style of avant-garde and design, his form and materials change every year. In his early works, the viewer is bombarded with dozens of faces, masks and heads, made in different techniques - acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, canvas, paper, markers, pencils, cardboard. There are even screens, similar to ancient Russian folding screens on a wooden base, covered with gold leaf and varnish.
Over time, the artist began to turn more often to figurative paintings, to work in oils, the characters acquired volume, interiors appeared around them, landscapes and still lifes appeared. And in 2023, one plane is no longer enough for an artist to express himself - sculptures appeared. In addition, work is currently underway on serial ceramics.
The artist’s works describe a world in which there is a lack of detail, flexibility, variability, and most importantly, love. According to the artist, love is the main engine of life.
